Brasserie Kyushoku Toban is a tiny cafe that recreates the Japanese elementary school lunch experience. Foreigners are particularly charmed by this restaurant. It gives them the opportunity to take part in Japanese culture they would have no access to otherwise. But Japanese like it too for its nostalgia factor.

Tokyo has the strangest of restaurant themes. I went to Brasserie Kyushoku Toban restaurant with my friends and was surprised to find that I was in company of Japanese elementary school students. This restaurant in Okachimachi serves the choicest food in Japanese kyushoku style in trays like in school. Unlike school, there is a huge variety of delicious food and you are taken back to your school days except that here they serve drinks at 500 to 1500 yen.
