Although Club Metro is not a gay venue, once a month, they hold the “Diamonds are Forever” event. This is a drag queen night which is pretty much an unofficial gay night. The crowd in Club Metro is mixed which is great. Other gay bars in Kyoto tend to be men only. The drag queens are good fun and usually interact with the crowd after the show. In addition, the event starts at 10:00 pm. Entry is 2000 yen which includes one free drink ticket or two drink tickets for students and foreigners! Also, additional drinks are reasonably priced after you’ve used those, with beer at around 500 yen.

Few months back, I visited this underground club for enjoying the drag queen show. The show was very entertaining. There were also live performance by various jazz artists, which was amazing. The drinks were refreshing and sandwiches were good. The staff is friendly and service is brilliant.
