In Komagata Dojo, kneel down on the tatami. Also, dig into this refreshingly unique eatery’s specialty: loaches. It’s prepared just as they were during the Edo Period. Komagata Dojo wants to take patrons back in time to the lives of peasants in the area centuries ago. It’s named after the loaches that are the main ingredient, dojō, and not the marital arts dōjō.

Exotic food in a traditional setting

3.0/ 5

On the insistence of my boyfriend, I finally decided to visit this old style restaurant. Their speciality is fish nabe and the price ranges from 1300 to 2000 yen. They gave options of sitting either on chairs or on a mat. It was great fun eating while sitting on the ground. The staff served amazing scrumptious authentic Japanese food. The decor was classic combined with a contradiction of comic characters.
