Hananomai Ryougoku is situated right in front of Ryogoku Station, which is the area of Sumo. There is an actual Dohyo (sumo ring) sitting right in the middle of the restaurant. There are even occasional shows performed on the Dohyo. Also, you can enjoy good Japanese food. You can also immerse yourself in the atmosphere of Sumo. Performances are usually on Saturdays.

A great sumo restaurant in Tokyo

Within a few minutes walking distance from Ryogoku JR station, is the Traditional Japanese Sumo wrestling restaurant. No, we did not have to do sumo wrestling there but this was the theme of the restaurant my friends and I found ourself in. We had delicious nabe and ask the friendly staff many questions. There were many comfortable seats in the cosy restaurant. It serves the meals that sumo wrestlers take. The best part is that they have chanko pot on flames where customers can cook their food by themselves.
